Polymorph is the last picture I made at JPL.

I was attempting to integrate the morphing data structures into similarly evolving environments. This was far beyond what the system could handle. Almost every sequence I tried to render crashed.

Meanwhile JPL stopped supporting the graphics lab. One day I realized everyone who’d made the lab “the lab” had either left or been reassigned.

The place became an eerie ghost laboratory with rooms of machines still running, but no one around to tend them. I felt like I was sailing on the Flying Dutchman of the computer world.
